Fruits early for a blackberry, ripening in late July in Scotland and has a condensed fruit period of around four weeks. This is a thorn free, semi erect variety. Loch Tay is susceptible to purple blotch Septocyta ruborum and blackberry cane and leaf rust Kuehneola uredines.
