‘Mini Blues’ – new northern highbush variety

Mini Blues is a new Vaccinium corymbosum L. developed by plant breeder Dr. Chad Finn (USDA) in Corvallis, Oregon. Mini Blues is a northern highbush variety with very small berry size, excellent aromatics and an intensely sweet flavor. It is well suited for specialized processed markets, but is more consistent in size, flavor, and quality than Rubel or lowbush blueberries.

Mini Blues can be pruned using a speed pruning method and is intended for machine harvesting. Mini Blues performs well in organic production systems as it has shown no symptoms of fungal or bacterial diseases and no evidence of gall midge problems. Chilling requirement: 1000 hours per year.
